In der ersten Sonate herrscht der komödiantische Geist. Die brillanten Texte stellen die Charaktere einander gegenüber. Lyrik, Gestik, Maskerade und Humor spielen ihre jeweilige Rolle vor dem Hintergrund einer - wie jede hochwertige Komödie - unterschwelligen Stimmung aus Ernsthaftigkeit und Dramatik. Bemerkenswert ist der quasi-symbolische Beginn der Einleitung, der die Entstehung der Klavier-Cello-Dualität darzustellen scheint; Töne erklingen unisono, bevor sie sich vorsichtig trennen und den ersten Impuls einer Melodie (kaum mehr als ein Rudiment) bilden, die die Aufführung in Gang setzt...
