Gotik

Bauhaus war eine britische Dark-Wave-/Rock-Band, die zusammen mit Musikern wie Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure den Grundstein fÃ¼r Gothic Rock legte. Die Band kombinierte einen progressiven, experimentellen Musikstil mit schwermÃ¼tigen und mystischen Texten und einem Auftreten in dunkler Kleidung mit dÃ¼sterem Make-up.
GegrÃ¼ndet wurde die Band 1978 im englischen Northampton von den vier Kunststudenten Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J und Kevin Haskins. Namensgeber war die 1919 von Walter Gropius in Weimar gegrÃ¼ndete Kunst- und Designschule Bauhaus 
Bauhaus gilt als eine der einflussreichsten Musikgruppen des Gothic Rock. In The Flat Field wird von vielen Kritikern als das erste Album dieses Genres angesehen. Besonders der SÃ¤nger Peter Murphy wurde zum Idol der europÃ¤ischen Gothic (Kultur) der 1980er Jahre und diente James O'Barr als Vorbild fÃ¼r den Protagonisten seines Comics The Crow.

Rest in Peace, a soundboard recording made by the band's loyal soundman Pete "Plug" Edwards, isn't as crisp-sounding or totally successful a live release as the massive Press the Eject, but still demonstrates the band members bowing out on a high with what was indeed their final show together at that time. Covering the entire show without breaks, including the use of the studio instrumental "Satori" as introduction music, Rest in Peace remains quite noteworthy not merely for the historical value, but because it's the only place where official live recordings of many Burning-era songs can be found (aside from "She's in Parties," no other song from that album was regularly featured during the band's reunion tour). 
On top of all this is a total never-officially-recorded-elsewhere rarity in the main set -- a gently spooky version of "In Heaven," the oft-covered David Lynch song used in Eraserhead.
